Starting Laser Treatment

Last week I posted an article about a ground breaking product that, if used according to instructions, diminishes fine lines around the eyes. Palomar provided this laser for me to use and over a period of six weeks I will report on my findings.

A week ago, I tried my PaloVia Laser for the first time.

To get the feel, I tried it on my arm first. Pressing the activation button, I heard a repetitive ping sound that indicated that the laser was working. As the instructions warned, the area became red and during treatment, there was a burning sensation.  Well, if that’s the worst it would produce, I would take a chance and use it on my face.

So, I applied the gel around both eye areas. Held my breath and went to work.

I moved the appliance around until the band around the outside lit up indicating that the laser was making good contact with my skin. I had to wiggled the laser around the wrinkles until the band lit up because I have high cheek bones. To make things more difficult, I also have deep set eyes. With perseverance, I managed to position the laser on my wrinkles so that I was getting the “go ahead” light.

The resulting small red patches around my eyes, made me look as if I had been crying. I hoped they would disappear by morning since I had an early golf tee time. I chastised myself for not beginning the treatment earlier in the day. Too late; perhaps make up will help.

Within the hour, the redness had faded quite a bit and I went to bed feeling hopeful. By morning, much of the redness had disappeared and my makeup did the rest.

So, that’s how it began. I wondered if it would take longer for the redness to disappear with the increasing treatments. It took no longer and the routine became easier the more I used the laser.

As for results, to my astonishment I noticed a difference within days. I don’t know if the area around my eyes had become slightly swollen causing the wrinkles to lessen but I definitely saw slight improvement.

I am very interested to see how this progresses. Keep checking back and I’ll keep you updated.
